By booking this course you are indicating that you have read and accepted the following Terms and Conditions: You are over 18 years of age and are booking this course for yourself. The instructor reserves the right to refuse access to the premises/course where there is reason to believe that the terms and conditions have been breached, or where threatening, bullying, harassing or disruptive behaviour occurs. The instructor will not be liable for any losses or expenses (including the course fees and consequential damages) incurred by anyone attending the course. You are agreeing to the cancellation and refund policy.
A full refund will be given for cancellations made before 01/09/18. 25% of the fee paid will be refunded for cancellations made from 01/09/18 to 30/09/18. No refunds will be made for cancellations made after 30/09/18.
The course typically has up to 12 participants to allow us to get to know one another. It’s not too big that we can't connect with one another, or too small that we don’t have a range of individuals and experiences.
This should not affect your attendance. Please discuss any changes to your medication with your GP. I will ask you to complete some simple screening questions before confirming your place on the course to ensure that the course is suitable for you.
Simply bring yourself and a curious attitude. It can be helpful to wear loose comfortable clothing so that you are comfortable during the session and meditation/imagery practices.
Each session builds on the last and you will gain most benefit if you are able to attend all 8 weeks. If you know that you will miss more than one session, I advise that you book at another time when you will be able to attend all sessions.
The course is often beneficial in managing mild-moderate anxiety, stress and depression. Compassionate mind training is an evidence-based approach for the treatment of depression and anxiety. If you face significant challenges in your life, such as severe mental health symptoms or recent life events, please contact me before booking. I would be pleased to discuss the suitability of the group and/or other treatment options with you.
The course is open to everyone. I would recommend the course to anyone wanting to reduce self-criticism, manage low mood or anxiety, develop a more supportive and encouraging internal voice and feel positive towards themselves.
Individual therapy can allow you to go into the detail of your experience and situation. In a group course, we have the benefit of being focused on the practice and skills that we want to develop to cope more effectively. The group structure helps us to stay focused on covering these skills and ideas, giving you a comprehensive training in compassion-focused mindfulness. The course is not a group therapy. You will not be expected to share personal information if you do not wish to. The group is a supportive place to share your experience of practising the self-compassion skills.
